I noticed the old/original version of this piece got some retweets recently and I haven’t posted to Tumblr in awhile, and it’s a pretty good time to dust off my account.
I call this piece “Butterfly Effect” because I just couldn’t resist that title no matter how hard I tried.
5x7″ and 11x17″ prints are available on my website.
The organelles of the cells have been translated into human anatomy, so the nucleus is the brain, the vacuole function as the lungs, and the mitochondria is the heart since it’s the… you already know, I don’t have to say it ;)
Aimed at people who don’t know where wool comes from, it’s 100% plastic. Yes, plastic.
So any garment you wash will release microfibres into the sea. It’ll never decompose.
You’re supposed to believe that sheep shearing is violent and cruel. There are imbeciles out there that work in an unprofessional manner while shearing, but that’s not the case overall.
Sheep don’t suffer from having their fleece removed.
Left on, the fleece can become a home for fly eggs and the subsequent maggots which can eat the sheep. Chemical treatments are available to prevent that happening. It’s much better for the sheep, the land and the farmer to avoid chemical use.
Don’t be fooled. Wool is a sustainable material, one we should make more and better use of.
Any garment you wash will release microfibres into the sea. It’ll never decompose.
This is very important.
And you need to wash acrylic wool garment more often than natural wool. They get stinky way more easily.
In my almost-decade of owning sheep, there have been exactly two(2) bad shearers try to start up in the area. Know what happened? The first farm they went to called every other shepherd in the area and said “This guy cut one of my sheep and didn’t think it was a big deal, don’t hire him.” And neither of them ever did business in the area again.
Some farmers are less conscientious than they should be about taking care of their stock, and the occasional tiny nick will happen, but no one is going to hire a shearer who is a) incompetent enough and b) uncaring enough to actually injure the animals to the point of bleeding, let alone the kind of horrors the internet claims.
Also, most breeds of sheep will literally die if they go too long without being sheared. PETA (and let’s face it, most of this anti-wool stuff can be traced back to deliberate misinformation from PETA) doesn’t care if sheep die, they have openly stated that they would prefer every domestic species that can no longer survive without humans go extinct rather than live in “"slavery.”“
Humans and sheep have lived together for over ten thousand years, they’ve been domesticated longer than dogs! Their lives consist of doing whatever the heck they want (for the most part they only want to walk, eat, sleep, play, and make lambs) while being fed and cared for, for the low price of having their hair cut once a year. Why would anyone boycott this natural, biodegradable fiber humans have been using for so long to the benefit of both species, in favor of plastics that are killing the planet??
We’re diving headfirst into the spirit of Halloween and all things spooky in this week’s spotlight with the genre-pushing girl group, Dreamcatcher. We caught up with the group ahead of their HALLOWEEN MIDNIGHT CIRCUS online concert to chat about the upcoming show, their favorite seasonal treats, and getting to spend the holiday with InSomnia. Check out our full interview below!
Tell us about HALLOWEEN MIDNIGHT CIRCUS and what it was like preparing for your latest online concert.
JI U: This time, it’s going to be different from what we’ve done before with the addition of a virtual world. I think it’ll be fascinating seeing the entire stage in a new light. Also, I think it’ll be a fun concert to watch, considering that we will dress up differently for Halloween.
SU A: I’m so excited because it feels like it’s been a while since we’ve done a Halloween concert. I’m really looking forward to what kind of fun concert it will be this time, and I can’t wait to show InSomnia.
SIYEON: We are preparing hard every day to show you a better performance every time. It’s not face-to-face, but I’m looking forward to a similar hot reaction from fans.
HANDONG: We always prepare a lot to show a different side of us at Halloween concerts. I’m excited to see what kind of fun it will be this time.
YOOHYEON: Wow, I really like Halloween, but it’s not my favorite day. Even so, I’m so happy to be able to have a concert the day before when we can feel the (Halloween) atmosphere. I can’t wait to do it!
DAMI: I’m very excited and have high expectations for the new challenges we’re taking on.
GAHYEON: I’m so happy to show you new fresh performances, and I’m looking forward to the fans’ responses.
Describe your dream Halloween costume and why it resonates with you.
JI U: I’ve dressed up as vampire Alice before, and I think it looked really good on me. It has a pure but decadent feeling…
SU A: My dream is to become a completely new person who doesn’t have any traces of my usual self. If I’ve done a lot of pretty things as myself, I think I’d be endlessly curious about the kinds of characters that could appear from me.
SIYEON: I really want to try dressing up as Hela, the villain from Thor: Ragnarok, later. It’s an attractive character that I really like, and I think it would go well with our image on stage.
HANDONG: Unfortunately, I couldn’t perform with choreography last year. This time I’ve picked a costume that fits well with the mood of the song.
YOOHYEON: My dream Halloween costume is actually Peter Pan…Haha, it’s a character that I really really like, and I’ve always wanted to do it even before Halloween. The outfit is what it is, and it’s really hard to get! I hope I get to show it to you one day!
DAMI: I want to try the Black Widow costume someday. It was suggested to me, and I think a tight leather bodysuit would look good on me.
GAHYEON: Vampire? I think red lipstick looks good on me.
